The Black Bamboo is a series of tall, thin stems. They start off green when they are new and turn a shiny ebony, especially if they are placed in the sun. The stems eventually turn brown. The stems also sprout bright green leaves. It is extremely frost tolerant and can withstand temperatures to -20 degrees.
