Abies squamata
| The Flaky Fir has shaggy, brown, peeling bark and blue-green, needle shaped foliage with a lighter coloured underside. It produces violet cones which hold the seeds. The Flaky Fir prefers moist, well drained soil in a sunny or shady position. It can tolerate sandy-clay loams and likes acidic soil. It is cold tolerant, but can be susceptible to frosts. |
